National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) is an autonomous educational institution that was established in 2004 with an intent to create an exemplary educational institution which can be a role model institute for many in terms of teaching and training in Tourism and Hospitality. NITHM is a sector-specific institute, modelled on the lines of IIT’s and IIM’s established for Tourism and Hospitality industry to provide Education, Training, Research and Consultancy in India and abroad. Chinnam Reddy says, “All our courses are created in such a way that our students get the perfect blend of theoretical knowledge and practical know-how required to thrive in the modern tourism and hospitality management strata. The Industrial Exposure Training (IET) for all the main courses has always been a part of the student curriculum, where the student has a mandatory 4 months Internship; learning hands-on in the Tourism, Hospitality or the Events Industry. To give our students international exposure, we have also started an international student exchange program with Vidzemes Augstskola University of Applied Sciences in Latvia. Apart from the Academics, our students are also encouraged to participate in intercollege competitions such as Quiz, Flower arrangements, Cooking competitions, Essay Writing, Cake Decoration, Vegetable Carving, Table Set Up’s, Fashion Show, and Ramp Walks”.

Being a front-runner when it comes to introducing innovative changes in tourism and hospitality education, NITHM strives for consistent improvement and aspire to instil necessary pep and zeal among the students and trainees to help develop a flair for management education and augmenting the pool of human resources sub-serving Tourism and Hospitality divisions by rolling out wellgroomed multi-skilled masters who continuously seek to improve the relevance and quality to meet the industry needs and through interface to all sectors and facets of human endeavour. Going forward, NITHM is aiming to achieve University Status and NAAC Accreditation, create an incubation centre, and introduce a Diploma in Event Management/MICEand Medical Tourism into their program portfolio.

Dr. S. Chinnam Reddy, Director
Dr. S. Chinnam Reddy is currently working as a Director, National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM), Hyderabad. Before joining NITHM, he was a Dean, Faculty of Management, Marwadi Education Foundation Group of Institutions (Top 6 institutions in Gujarat as per Indian Management, May 2014), Rajkot and also Dean, Faculty of Management, Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad. He holds vast experience of 28 years in academics since 1992 and has been mentoring students and faculty for more than twenty years.
