Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science for Women (SRCW) was established in the year 1991 with a mission to expose the talents of the young women by providing them with enormous opportunities. From the time of its establishment, the college has ensured that it adopts the advancements in every sector so that the skill sets of women shine in all the fields of life. The college offers a wide range of courses, which promotes studies in four streams namely, computer science, life sciences, management, commerce andhumanities. “All our programs focus on moulding confident women embodied with the required skill set, values and ethical standards. The MCA program started in 1993 is one of the flagship program offered at SRCW which stands as a platform to exhibit the technical skills of women”, states Dr. K. Chitra, Principal, SRCW.

The training starts with the orientation program where students get an idea regarding the scope and the requirements of the industry. “In the first week of the college itself, we provide students with an opportunity to interact with the alumni in order to understand the college and the training.

After that, they are introduced with the curriculum and along with the classroom learning, we try to mould an apt professional behaviour among the students through various activities,” adds Dr. Chitra. The department provides ‘Earn while you learn’ opportunities for the benefits of students.

The department of computer science makes every effort to keep pace with the fast-paced industry in order to enhance the competency and employability of the students. During the first semester of the course, students get a chance to participate in outbound program where theystrengths, weakness, challenges are assessed and measures are provided to make them more reliable for the workplace. There are club activities and various other opportunities provided that make them free from the stressful times of learning. “Our department is led by a team of well qualified and experienced team of 23 faculty members with 19 of them being qualified
with doctoral degrees and are well versed in the field which they pass on to the students.Faculty members are also currently working in Research Projects funded by UGC and TNSCST etc,” claims Dr. Chitra.

Project work is a part of the curriculum both at the undergraduate and at the postgraduate levels. The corporate in-house training wherein students are sent to the industry provides them with hands on training experience. “We motivate our students for peer learning that enables them in sharing and addition of knowledge. The students can enrol in the various groups viznetworking, IOT , app development and enrich the knowledge in the field,” says Dr. Chitra.

The salary attracts a many students towards the IT field and the institute analyses the passion and interest of the students so that every student who pass out from the college become assets in their work firms. “The department has an excellent track record of providing top-notch placement opportunities. Infosys, TCS, CTS, Wipro, Accenture, Mckinsey, Amazon, Payoda, IBM are some of the recruiters. Some of our students are entrepreneurs and in these 26 years of journey, the first step we take is to understand the interest and talents of students in the field which is further fine-tuned,” explains Dr. Chitra. The college provides a wellestablished, secured environment and a great learning atmosphere. Our efforts are rewarded with 286 university ranks secured since our inception,” claims Dr.K.Chitra.

The 26 long years of journey of SRCW has helped many young girls in carving their future also making them responsible citizens of the nation. Today, this temple of learning provides students with enormous opportunities to explore the world and to make every student's dream areality.
