The education and knowledge gained by any individual play an important role in his/her successful projection of career and Symbiosis School of Banking and Finance(SSBF) is trying to prepare its studentsas industry-ready professionals in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) domain. SSBF is committed to providing quality education to students, corporate training for reskilling professionals, and serving society through its Social Responsibility Cell.

SSBF is established in the year 2010 in order to cater to the growing demand in the BFSI sector by keeping itself abreast with the dynamic nature of this domain. The curriculum designed for the students consists of lecture methods, presentations, group discussions, experiential learning activities, case study discussions, and field visits. SSBF encourages students to do certifications like National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), etc. for their holistic development.

The comprehensive and well-defined program which caters to both the National and International needs of the BFSI domain is the uniqueness of our courses and curriculum. SSBF provides degree specializedin Banking and Finance fields along with basic management skills and over the course of two years, the students get exposure of subjects like Credit Management, Financial Risk Management, and Micro Finance to name a few. SSBF tries to stay futuristic by regularly revising and updating the curriculum by taking the views of industry experts into consideration. Creative platforms such as the Corporate Interface Team which invites guests to deliver sessions on topics like cryptocurrency, data analytics, Annual Banking and Finance Conclave known as Symposium, Committees like Placement, Sports, ISR helps in inculcating adaptability in students thus making them a lifelong learner.
Equipped to Prepare for Future
Faculty at SSBF are UGC qualified and experienced academicians and many of them have already served in the industry which helps us to maintain the quality of both theoretical as well as practical learning. The faculty in SSBF frequently publish their research papers in journals like Scopus and ABDC categories and they also undergo Faculty Development Program conducted by Symbiosis Teaching Learning Resource Centre at the University level.

In order to cater the requirement of digitization era, SSBF makes use of platforms such Zoom, MS Teams, Google meet, installed Smart Boards in Classroom. We also use Simulation Lab for banking software in order to provide hands-on experience to the students for better understanding.

Our students do two months summer internship with renowned organizations such as State Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank, RBI, to name a few, and do projects in subjects like Wealth Management, Asset Recovery, and Loan products which gives them in-depth domain knowledge and work experience which ultimately helps them in facing the final interviews confidently.

Walking Hand-in-Hand with Corporate
SSBF is providing 100% placement to their eligible students for the last four years by providing them pre-placement opportunities such as Mock Group Discussions and Personal Interviews, Special sessions on interview and soft skills, and inviting industry experts to share their experiences. Apart from regular subjects, teaching them topics like Advance Excel, Data Analytics, Digital Marketing, SQL, Python, and R Programming enriches their knowledge and increases the probability of getting placed.

SSBF partnered with Bajaj Finserv for a certificate program in Banking, Finance, Insurance, and Business Communication (CPBFI) for fresh graduates and final year students and collaborated with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) and BFSI sector skill
council of India to develop content for National University Student’s Skill development. SSBF has signed an MOU with CRIF High Mark for giving scholarships of Rs. 1,00,000/- for a needy student and an MOU is signed with BAIF for the field visit where students interact with the community in the rural areas and understand their business model for livelihood. SSBF has partnered with the Association of International Wealth Management of India (AIWMI) to offer prestigious global certification such as Certified Credit Research Analyst (CCRA), and Certified Private Banking Manager (CPBM) to name a few.

SSBF is very proud of its Alumnus venturing into various corporate and entrepreneurship and achieving laurels in their careers in a very short span of time. SSBF is well connected with their alumni base and frequently invites them to address students on recent trending topics, to take induction programs, mock interviews, and eventually connect them with the right person in the industry for internship, placements, and training programs.

The Plan Ahead
In the near future, SSBF is planning to start leadership development training for seasoned professionals and to provide a Diploma in Banking and Finance and Executive Diploma in FinTech to working professionals. SSBF is looking forward to providing more industry-relevant certifications and designing Massive Open Online Courses, videos, and case studies in order to disseminate financial knowledge across varied segments. SSBF is in the process of signing an MOU with the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and other corporates for conducting training programs for aspiring minds and upskilling existing professionals in the BFSI industry.

Having 32 years of experience, Dr. Manisha Ketkar is a commerce graduate, a Fellow Cost Accountant, and did her Master’s in Business Studies from the University of Pune and a PhD in supply Risk Management.Her areas of expertise are Cost & Management Accounting and Supply Chain Management.
