This year during the month of May, the country witnessed a sudden outbreak of a deadly disease called "Nipah virus" in the state of Kerela, where approximately seventeen people succumbed in front of the same virus. Recently, the state Government felicitated doctors, paramedical teams, support staff and volunteers who fought relentlessly against the spread of this virus in the districts of Kerela. Among the receiver of awards, there was also the husband of Late Lini Puthussery, the ‘hero' nurse who selflessly kept on treating the patients without thinking of her own health and eventually died after contracting the virus. Similarly, there are numerous other unsung heroes in the field of nursing who stood true to their profession and never backed out to serve the country in the most crucial situations.
