Technical University of Moldova (UTM) is the only higher education institution in the Republic of Moldova that trains engineers for different branches within its 11 faculties: Electronics and Telecommunications; Power and Electrical Engineering; Computers, Informatics and Microelectronics; Food Technology; Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and Transport; Architecture and Urban Planning; Constructions, Geodesy and Cadastre; Economic Engineering and Business; Design; Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine.
UTM was founded in 1964, with the initial name ‘Polytechnic Institute of Chisinau’, based on engineering and economic specialties transferred from the State University of Moldova. In the following years, the university grew both quantitatively and qualitatively, becoming a great educational, scientific and cultural centre. At present UTM numbers over 11500 students, 973 teachers/academic staff, is Nr. 1 among universities in the country (The World University Ranking – Impact Ranking 2022), Nr. 1 among universities in the country and Romania ‘Round University Ranking (RUR) World University Rankings’ and over 85 per cent of graduates are employed within three months of graduation.
