Imparting nursing education based on excellence in the generation and transmission of nursing knowledge through a teaching process that encouraged critical thinking and a spirit of scientific inquiry in delivering care, has been at the core of Woodlands Multispecialty Hospital ever since its foundation in 1946 as East India Clinic.

Offering General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) Diploma program, the School of Nursing was established in 1995. Taking note of the expanding health services of the country, the College of Nursing was started in 2009 admitting 30 students for bachelor's degrees in nursing as they prepared to graduate as well-qualified nurses. Thereafter, the seats were enhanced to 50 for both GNM and B.Sc Nursing courses.

Today, recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, and West Bengal Nursing Council and affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Woodlands College of Nursing strives to prepare nurses who are highly spirited and skilled in professional as well as personal front to contribute to the health care delivery system by creating a learning environment of international repute.

The institution has its unitary building with well-equipped spacious classrooms with the latest technology, including a SMART classroom facility for providing multisensory experiences.

It also has a digital library facility, well-furnished specifically designed labs with the necessary equipment for practicing and developing skills for the students in the Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Nutrition, Audio Visual Aids, Computer Lab,

E-learning, Wi-Fi facility for self-learning that make the experience special. Woodlands School and College of Nursing also have modernized hostel lodging. Currently, the institute provides accommodation to nearly 244 students. With high moral, ethical, and professional standards among students and to improve their overall personality as well as to inculcate compassionate behavior, this institution helps nursing students to practice medicine ethically in line with the global standard protocols.

Woodlands School of Nursing is backed by highly qualified and experienced faculties with M.Sc Nursing degrees holdingan administrative post as Principal, Vice-Principal, and also as Professors, Associate Professors,and Assistant Professors who are registered under the West Bengal Nursing Council and are also appointed as the paper setter, examiners, evaluators, reviewers for various exams conducted by The West Bengal University of Health Sciences and are also members of the Examination Board.

In addition to this, the college also recruits nursing tutors who have more than two years of clinical experience and are efficient enough to provide adequate supervision in the clinical field.

The teaching-learning activities are structured to respond to the unique needs of a diverse student population and society at large. Woodlands College of Nursing also organizes institutional seminars and conferences.

The college encourages the faculty for ‘in-service education’ and ‘staff development program’ and participates in workshops, conferences, and seminars conducted by other national and international level organizations such as TNAI, INC, SOMI, ISPN, and more. As the institute marches ahead, Woodlands College of Nursing is planning to organize skill lab training and problem-solving activities for nursing students to improve their knowledge of higher education and industry requirements. The college also plans to start other short courses and post-graduation courses as well in the years to come.
