MSRIT: The Hub of Diverse Talent Pool

HER Team
1200 eligible candidates in 2015 batch, 94 companies, 1410 offers in 18 days with mindboggling paychecks ranging from 5.5 lakhs to 16.5 lakhs per annum – These numbers are the latest placement updates from Bangalore based M.S. Ramiah Institute of Technology (MSRIT) on their first round of campus placements. Dr. Savitha Konna, Head – Placement and Training, MSRIT, talks about how the institute achieved these golden digits.

• How do you feel about the latest achievements in placement?

It is a very proud moment for us. After the initial round of placements, the students who applied received at least one offer from any of the major recruiters in the country. There are many students who have received more than one offer at this moment.

• When did you start preparing the current batch of students for the final placements?

We start our training programs for placement at the end of the sixth semester. However, we started the programs much earlier this time where we rigorously groomed our students in communication skills, personality development, aptitude, and group discussions.

• What are the pre-placement training activities that MSRIT students undergo?

We do not involve consultancies for training our students. We have numerous tie-ups with the industry. Therefore, people from the industry visit our campus frequently to share their real time experience with our students. This has resulted in a considerable climb in our placement graph; as by the time companies step in for recruitment, our students are already aware of what is happening in the industry.

• How is MSRIT benefiting from being located in Bangalore, the IT hub of India?

We have a long history of relationship with the major players in the industry. Therefore, people from the industry already know that our students are groomed in such way that they fit in with the requirements of the dynamic market. This year, we have had many first-time recruiters, who were previously recruiting only from IITs and IIMs.

• Apart from IT/ITES companies, what are the opportunities for students who want to pursue a career in core companies?

Even though IT companies rule the job market right now, we have significant number of core companies in our list of recruiters.

• Why should corporate companies come to MSRIT in search of their future talents?

As there are companies out in the market in diverse verticals, we have students with diverse interests. We understand the interests and aspirations of individual students and groom them accordingly. As a result, we have trained talents to cater to the need of varied corporate companies. This is the reason why we have more number of repeated clients visiting our campus for recruitments year after year.
