FDGE 2020: NBE to Conduct Screening Tests for Overseas Dental Graduates from December 4
A Foreign Dental Graduate Screening Test-FDGE 2020 notification has been issued by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The autonomous regulatory body has announced that the FDGE examination will take place in Delhi on 4 December 2020.
“National Board of Examinations, an autonomous organisation of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, shall be conducting Foreign Dental Graduate Examination (FDGE) 2020 for Indian Citizens/OCI possessing primary dental qualifications awarded by a dental institution outside India on December 4, 2020, on a Computer-Based Platform at Delhi,” read the notice.
The Foreign Dental Graduate Test is performed for Indian nationals, Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) and Person of Indian Origin (PIOs) in compliance with the 'Dental Council of Screening Test Regulations 2009' to assess their eligibility for registration with the Dental Council of India (DCI) or any other State Dental Council (SDC).
The exam consists of two question papers, consisting of 100 and 150 multiple options, in English language only, single correct answer questions. For both papers, applicants will be granted 120 minutes and 180 minutes respectively. A break between the two papers is going to occur. For the correct answer, one mark will be given and no negative marking will occur, as per the rules.
In each paper, the applicant has to score 50 percent individually to qualify for appearing in the viva-voice examination. There will be 50 points for the viva voice and candidates must score 50 percent separately. The number of attempts does not have any limitations.
NBE in its official notice said that it aims to conduct ‘touch-free processes maintaining social distancing norms’ because of the pandemic. Thus, several precautionary measures will be taken. The entry to the exam hall will be staggered. Each candidate will be given a time slot to enter the venue. The time will be indicated in their admit cards. The reporting counter will close 30 minutes prior to the test start time. Friends or relatives accompanying the candidates will not be allowed entry into the examination centre premises.
When entering, applicants with a barcode/QR code reader can flash the admission card and ID proof for verification to the examination functionary standing across the table. This will make touch-less checking possible. It is mandatory to wear masks or face shields.
