Delhi Unveils 1-Year Fellowship to Boost Heritage, Tourism

  • Forty participants to get ₹50,000 monthly under a 1-year fellowship.
  • Fellows will promote tourism through tours, events, and digital media.
  • The initiative aims to preserve Delhi’s heritage and engage local youth.

The government of Delhi has launched a new program known as the Tourism and Heritage Fellowship Programme. Through this initiative, around 40 candidates will be chosen each year to obtain a monthly allowance of Rs 50,000, in addition to a certificate after finishing the one-year fellowship.

Participants will work across various tourism-related projects in Delhi, including conducting guided tours and creating digital content to promote the city’s attractions.

They will assist in managing events and venues such as Dilli Haat, the Garden of Five Senses, and support film shoot coordination as well as activities under MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). In addition, they will help operate Tourism Information Centres and contribute to event planning and execution.

The fellowship program aims to protect the city's cultural heritage and historical legacy. The initiative seeks to involve young people in enhancing the accessibility and significance of Delhi’s monuments, heritage locations, and cultural happenings. Establish the city as a welcoming, vibrant, and internationally appealing tourist spot. Promote active involvement of young people in tourism and the preservation of heritage.

The initiative seeks to link young citizens directly with governmental initiatives and introduce fresh viewpoints to the city's tourism industry. The initiative promotes the idea of an independent India by utilizing local skills and minimizing reliance on outside consultants.

The initiative is managed by the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), which intends to protect the heritage of the state.
