UGC Invites Applications for Online and Distance Learning 2025–26

  • UGC invites HEIs to apply for ODL and Online programs 2025–26 session.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has started to accept applications from colleges and universities for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and the Online format for the academic session 2025-26, with classes beginning in February 2026.

The digital application window is open today, October 22, 2025, until November 10, 2025, and the cut-off date for physical applications is November 20, 2025. Interested HEIs can apply online via ugc.ac.in.

“UGC invites applications from eligible Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) for recognition to offer programmes under Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and/or Online degree for the academic year 2025–26, session beginning February 2026. Online Application Window: 22nd Oct – 10th Nov 2025. Last Date for Hard Copy Submission: 20th Nov 2025,” reads UGC Notice.

As per the UGC notification, colleges and universities must follow strict eligibility criteria during the application process, with the assurance that only accredited HEIs of a high quality will be allowed to offer these programs. Detailed instructions and submission guidelines for the entire process can be found on the UGC website.

Colleges and universities are asked to review the eligibility criteria and submit an application on time to receive approval for the upcoming academic session. UGC has informed institutions to comply with all regulatory requirements to avoid issues with delays or loss of eligibility.
