Prof. S.S. Prasada Rao,Director Experiences shared by an alumnus on the values one incorporated throughout their journey at the institute is important to students seeking good institutes and also become the deciding factor for why an institute is better than others. “At Hyderabad Business School (HBS) one gets to learn something new every single day. Like all graduates, experiences earned in the college days are cherished for the entire life. Avinash’s experiences piqued our interest and HER team pursued a conversation with Prof. S.S. Prasada Rao, Director, Hyderabad Business School. HBS considered as the youngest B-school in South India was established in 2009 under Gitam University, Hyderabad and has gained immense popularity within a span of six years through a conglomerate of various activities that the institute undertakes and the quality of education they provide. “We at HBS hold six important things which define us- Visionary Management, Committed Faculty, Knowledge Management, Institutional culture, Infrastructure and IT Enabled classroom,” pinpoints Prof. Rao.To further display how the institution functions on the mentioned six important things, Prof. Rao explains the role of the faculty members in building up the reputation of the institute i.e. successful students. HBS has group of faculty members mentoring students with years of academic
and industrial expertise. Currently, the institute takes pride in having 10 regular, 5 adjunct and 12 visiting faculties in the institute. The faculty members provide a thorough learning experience for the students incorporating a balance of theory and practical aspects of the subject matter.Improving the teaching skills of faculties, the institute provides opportunities for research and encourages for consultancy projects. HBS believes that teaching involves more than what it does by communicating with students and helps them understand concepts but also must involve research and consultancy projects in order to enhance skills of the faculties as well. Further, the consultancy projects undertaken with leading organizations help build relationships benefitting the institute with placement opportunities and recruitment of the students.HBS offers a full time MBA program and PhD in major functional areas of management and accommodates an intake of 120 students and 45 scholars. The program is designed and complimented with various activities such as workshops, seminars, exchange programs with institutions and organizations incorporating some core values like leadership qualities, analytical rigor, commitment and cooperation.Located in Hyderabad, Prof. Rao mentions that the institute enjoys the advantage of its geographical location and considerably easy access to the corporate hubs for placements. Having secured 98 percent record in placement drives, the students have been placed in leading organizations such as Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra earning an average emolument of Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum extending to Rs. 8 lakh per annum. The Director mentions the essence of 35 years of Gitam University which brings a network of Alumni fetching in lot of career opportunities to the young batches of students and guiding them to become ideal professionals.
=Believing in fruitful and productive collaborations, HBS has collaborations only for the foreign
exchange programs currently. Some other organizations such as Hyderabad Management Association, Association of Indian Management Schools, Indian commerce Association, Indian Economic Association are aimed to induce value, quality and employability in students. A worthy mention is the Techno Management Fest organized every year in the campus which serves the vision to facilitate creative minds to explore boundaries and innovate. The fest involves various B-schools conducting inter college competitions targeted to indulge students taking interest in innovations and training them to build and manage business ideas through step by step plan. One of the entrepreneurship ventures by the students of HBS is Apneadda.com which is now an independent setup.India being the third largest higher education system in the world in terms of enrolment which counts to over 13.64 million in 26,455 institutions and the numbers are still increasing due to liberalization of economy which allows people to afford professional courses. Since majority of the population in India lies between the ages of 15-59, the country has more substantial working population relative to other countries. To improve a quality workforce, the institutions need to provide more skillful learning methods to increase the employability of generations every year and it is where Hyderabad Business School stand their point of being an institution providing quality workforce to the industry.
