Dr. Bhojraj Suresh:

He is the Vice-Chancellor of JSS University. He was elected in 2003 as the President of Pharmacy Council of India, the statutory body regulating the pharmacy education and profession in India. Dr Suresh has to his credit several national and International publications and has initiated several international collaborations through bilateral, academic and research exchange programs. He has to his credit of having organized several national and international meetings and conferences in India and elsewhere, and had spearheaded the organizing of the World Congress of Pharmaceutical Sciences 2011, 71st International Congress of FIP.

Officially granted a University in 2008, the authorities reinvented the institute with a mission to provide an innovative curriculum, nurture research and provide overall better human health force to the needs of today.

Supporting its endeavors are the courses offered at the University that provide ample career choices to a healthcare aspirant like MBBS, MDMS, PG Diploma in Dental Sciences, M. Sc in Forensic Odontology, Pharm. D, M. Pharm and many more. Along with offering a vast array of courses, the University maintains the niftiness in providing the apt and updated syllabus by a curriculum that is constantly evolving by every novel change in the industry. With a Board of Studies in place for every institution, JSS University in its six years of function has evolved and has an innovative curriculum that is adopted by many institutions including the statutory councils that adopt it, reinvent, and take forwards their ideas. "There are statutory bodies like the Medical Council, Dental Council and Pharmacy Council that prescribe a certain way for the curriculum to be followed. Quite often it becomes a limitation for any innovation or change that is expected as per the demands of the industry," adds Dr. Suresh.

Research Magnanimity

With over 500+ Post Graduated faculty members of which 80 percent are PhDs holders in its arsenal, JSS University in its past six historical years, has done funded research projects of over 20 crores by the Government of India and various other research agencies like AICTE, DST, DBIT, and ICMR. The academic year 2014 witnessed a remarkable more than 600 research publications from the University. "We at JSS carry three functionalities in research: Academic research, Principle Investigation Driven Research, and Consultancy Research. The University is in national and international collaborations to assist the same," unveils Dr. Suresh.

The authorities at JSS University give importance of the top priority on national level collaborations that include Bhartiyar University in Coimbatore, Gujarat Forensic Sciences, IGIB, IICT, NMIMS Mumbai, and Sri Ramachandra University in Chennai. They are the first ever to collaborate with DRDO. Overseas, NCI (US), Harvard University (US), Latrobe University Australia, and Aims University in Malaysia are partners with JSS. As many as 30 companies have visited the campus for placements like Dr. Reddy's, Biocon, AstraZeneca, Abott, Par Formulations, Delvin Pharma, Arabindo, and Hetero offering packages as high as five lakh. In practicing professions of MBBS and BDS, the University has received over 100 percent placements and 80 percent in Pharmacy. A focused road map ahead to be a renowned University by 2020 and to become a provider for the country's societal welfare remains the objective of the authorities at JSS University. "We want to be amongst the recognized names of the country's best Human Science and Health Care Institutions and become a fostering element to the industry's needs," unravels Dr. Suresh.
