Sri B. Nitish Harihar,Chairman Engineering education in India has seen tremendous growth over the past decade, both in number of students and number of colleges. The recent growth in Indian engineering education has been overwhelmingly due to privately funded educational institutions rather than publicly funded ones. This has largely diluted the quality of education, and students are becoming engineering graduates rather than employable engineers.

Set-up with the mission to impart value-based education to students from both the rural and urban areas and to train them into technically competent employable engineers, Narasu's Sarathy Institute of Technology was started in 2008. The institute was established by Late Thiru. Narasu's R. P. Sarathy Ayya under Mahalakshmi Ammal Trust, named after his beloved mother for providing quality technical education to deserving students in the region. Believing that education is the best way to bring positive change in the society, founder, Late Thiru Narasu's R. P. Sarathy Ayya said that when a child is educated and given a job opportunity, the whole family will prosper. With this noble thought and the desire to contribute to the society, he started this college when he was 75 years old.

Today, Narasu's Sarathy Institute of Technology offers five basic UG courses - B.E. CSE, ECE, EEE and Mechanical; B. Tech. IT and two PG courses - M.E. CSE & VLSI. Adhering to the Anna University Admission process, the college involves the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission through open window counseling. "We believe in providing content beyond the syllabus to make our students industry-ready. They are encouraged to participate in National & International conferences, symposiums and technical events in other renowned institutions to enhance their technical skills. Value added courses approved by Anna University and certification courses in specific areas of expertise is offered to the students free of cost to keep them abreast of the latest technologies", says Aishwarya Nitish, Pro Chairman, NSIT.

A Notch Ahead of other Colleges
An NAAC accredited institution with a 100 year old prestigious brand name Narasu's, NSIT has accomplished many milestones in since its inception. The college strives to create qualified engineers who are encouraged not only join well paying jobs, but
also to become entrepreneurs and employ others in their startups. This is possible because of NSIT's innovative teaching learning methodologies that include Concept a Day: Students are encouraged to present a technical concept to their class everyday.

This updates their knowledge and improves their communication skill; Student Seminars: Students prepare and present seminars on topics beyond the syllabus; Mini Projects: Each student creates a mini project every semester from second year; Industrial Visit/Internships/In-plant Training: Students are encourages to go for industrial visits, paid internships and In-plant trainings during their semester holidays to understand the corporate etiquette, industry needs and latest technical trends; Journals and Publications: Both faculty and students are encouraged to present research papers, text books and articles in conferences for Journals and recognized publications.

As things have changed post-pandemic, the world has changed the education system as well. Classrooms have turned into zoom calls, and debates and discussions turned into virtual meetings. So blended learning and outbound learning is encouraged to ensure latest concepts are introduced to the students through guest lectures, seminars and industry connect programs. At NSIT, Placement training is given with a systematic syllabus from the first semester. The active Entrepreneur Development Cell encourages students to think out of the box, present innovative business ideas and helps them create successful business plans for their startups.
