The UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship is an exemplary funding scheme introduced by University College London, a prestigious institution, to support meritorious yet financially weaker section students around the globe. The major objective behind launching the scholarship is to give full-time undergraduate degree opportunities to students who are enrolled in the best institution in the world but are facing financial issues.
The institution aims to expand access to higher education, and its scholarship is a testimony to its commitment to ensuring that financially weaker section students, despite being intellectually brilliant, are not denied opportunities to realize their full potentials.
The scholarship will be open for fee-paying students from countries outside the United Kingdom who intend to join UCL for the 2026/27 academic year. It will be based primarily on the basis of need, and the scholarship will be for students who wish to study any of the undergraduate degree courses at UCL.
It will help students from diverse international backgrounds by giving them an opportunity to join the globally recognized academic institution that is UCL. There will be as many as 33 full grants to be provided by this scholarship program, together with stipends for maintenance costs and charges for Visas and Immigration Health Charge.

The requirements for becoming eligible for UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarships include becoming eligible for overseas fee-paying courses and coming from low-income families. Although the overall income level for those becoming eligible for the scholarship is £42,875 and lower, UCL welcomes those whose income levels are slightly higher and yet still under £42,875, urging them to try their luck for the scholarship through individual case assessments.
Becoming eligible for UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarships requires a potential applicant to have an offer for a course at UCL and to apply for a scholarship through the Portico portal.
The scholarship benefit is applicable to the full length and breadth of the undergraduate course, as long as the student is able to maintain the eligibility norms that are set in place for the scholarship. Members of the student community who are chosen to receive the scholarship are also expected to follow a set of guidelines that include the responsibility to notify the university regarding their status or lack thereof in receiving the funding for the course.
The last date for the application to be made is set as 5pm BST on the 27th of April, 2026, by which date the student community is expected to know the status by the 3rd of June, 2026. This is a part of the larger mission that the UCL undertakes as a measure to promote global inclusion, education equality, and social mobility that enables the students to access education around the globe.
