Otago: Indian Students Up 45%; NZ Offers NZD 45k Scholarships

Indian students are becoming a significant force in the expansion of international education in New Zealand, representing 11% of the nation’s overseas enrollments. The University of Otago, which saw a 45% increase in Indian enrolments in 2024, has introduced a range of new scholarships valued at up to NZD 45,000 to further assist this rising demand.
In partnership with market-entry expert OneStep Global, Otago will launch its first Otago Experience Student Outreach program this September in Delhi, Bangalore, and Mumbai.
The events provide an opportunity for students and parents to connect with Otago faculty, alumni, and representatives, discover academic programmes in Health Sciences, Business, Humanities, and Sciences, and obtain information on career options and living in New Zealand.
The updated scholarships span from NZD 15,000 for undergraduate students to offers worth NZD 45,000, which include first-year residential college housing for outstanding academic performers.

Otago graduates have high employability rates, as 95% find jobs within six months post-graduation, earning an average salary of NZD 87,400. Graduates collaborate with top employers such as ANZ, Deloitte, Fonterra, and ASB Bank, with numerous individuals advancing into leadership positions throughout various industries.
