The application process for the Rhodes Scholarship 2026 is now open. Indian students looking to undertake postgraduate studies at the University of Oxford can submit their applications online beginning June 2, 2025. The deadline for submissions is July 23, 2025, by 11:59 PM IST.

The Rhodes scholarship ranks among the oldest fully financed scholarships globally. It covers the entire course fees at Oxford and offers an annual stipend of approximately Rs 22.94 lakh, which amounts to Rs 1.91 lakh monthly for living costs, including housing.

Alongside tuition and living expenses, the scholarship covers the application fee for Oxford, the student visa, and the International Health Surcharge (IHS), two economy-class airfares between India and the UK, a settling-in allowance upon arrival, and assistance for visa renewal for scholars enrolling in a second course.

The typical length of the scholarship is two years, with the option for extension in special circumstances. Candidates must enroll in full-time postgraduate courses at Oxford, as funding is not offered for programs at different institutions.

To be eligible, candidates must be Indian citizens with a valid Indian passport or similar proof of citizenship and should have finished either Class 10 or Class 12 at a school in India, or should have completed or be in the final year of an undergraduate program at an Indian university.

Founded in 1902, the Rhodes Scholarship seeks to cultivate public-minded leaders globally by providing them the chance to study at Oxford. It fosters worldwide comprehension and cooperation via its global network of academics.
