TN Education Fair to Offer 10,000 Russia MBBS Seats

  • Tamil Nadu education fair offers Indian students access to 10,000 MBBS seats in Russia.
  • Russian universities provide affordable medical education opportunities with scholarships and spot admission facilities.
  • NEET-qualified students can apply without requiring IELTS, CET, or additional entrance examinations successfully.

The state of Tamil Nadu will organize the "All India Russian Education Fair 2026–27" which provides Indian students with access to 10000 MBBS seats in Russian universities. The two-day education fair will be held in Chennai from May 9 to May 10 at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture which will display multiple major Russian governmental universities.

The event aims to provide students with detailed information about medical education opportunities in Russia, along with spot admissions for MBBS and other higher education programmes. Organisers reported that Indian students currently prefer Russia as their main destination for affordable medical education abroad because Russian universities offer lower tuition costs while following National Medical Commission (NMC) rules for international medical education.

The education fair will provide full scholarships to more than 200 students according to the reports. The participating institutions will present their programs which include medical courses and emerging fields such biotechnology and artificial intelligence and data science and engineering. The initiative shows that Russia wants to increase its student enrollment from India for higher education programs in various academic fields.

Students who have qualified the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and secured the required academic marks are eligible to apply for MBBS admissions. General category students need at least 50 percent marks in relevant subjects, while SC, ST, and OBC students require a minimum of 40 percent marks. The organisers explained that Tamil-medium students can apply to Russian universities without needing to take IELTS and CET examinations.

The fair will later travel to several other cities across Tamil Nadu, including Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, and Coimbatore between May 12 and May 15. The event allows students and parents to enter without any admission charges. Russian medical schools offer MBBS programs which start at approximately ₹3.5 lakh per year because of government funding, making this international medical education option more affordable than other countries, according to officials.

Education experts believe the fair could significantly benefit Indian students looking for international medical education opportunities amid intense competition for MBBS seats in India. The initiative will create stronger academic ties between Russian universities and Indian students who want to obtain internationally recognized professional qualifications.
