DRDO HEMRL Invites UG, PG Students for Paid Internships

- DRDO’s HEMRL Pune announces paid internships for engineering and science students starting February 2026.

The Defence Research & Development Organisation's (DRDO) High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), located at Pune, has announced the opportunity of Paid Internship programmes available from February 2026 for engineering as well as science students.
The DRDO organisation has posted the advertisement regarding eligible applications required by interested individuals wishing to participate in this internship programme that will enable them to practically experience defence-related R&D work.
This internship is available for undergraduate students pursuing engineering courses in their seventh or eighth semester, while those pursuing postgraduate courses in engineering and science in their first or second year.
This internship will begin on February 1st, 2026, and will run for a total of six months, ending in July 2026. A total of 40 slots have been allocated for this internship in diverse fields such as aerospace, chemical and mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, and so forth.

The selected interns will be provided with a stipend of ₹ 5,000/- per month on receipt of satisfactory work-cum-progress report from the guide, provided the internees complete at least 15 working days in a month. The amount will be paid in two installments during the tenure of the internship.
Boarding and lodging facilities are not available; however, the canteen facility available at HEMRL can be availed on payment of subsidized charges.
The applicant has to be enrolled in full-time undergraduate or postgraduate studies in recognized Indian colleges and universities, achieve a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5, and be under the age of 28 years.
The application should consist of the bio-data of a minimum of 300 words, academic documents, and a letter of recommendation from the principal or director of the institition.
On the other hand, the selection process involves merit, and the shortlisted candidates will be intimated by January 23, 2026. Finally, the last date for submitting the application by speed post to the Director, HEMRL, Pune, is required for the completion of the internship, and it does not ensure employment with the DRDO.
