GATE 2027 Registration Begins as IIT Madras Opens GOAPS Portal

IIT Madras begins GATE 2027 registration through the GOAPS portal, with candidates able to apply until September 27 without a late fee. The exam is scheduled across six dates in February 2027.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras), which is the organizing institute of GATE 2027, commences the process of online registration for the GATE exam on September 2, 2026. Candidates can now apply for GATE 2027 through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) at the official website of GATE 2027.
As per the latest schedule that has been published by IIT Madras, the period for applying without paying late fees will be available till September 27, 2026. For those aspirants who miss the deadline, they are free to apply till October 5, 2026, with the payment of late fees. The form rectification period will be from October 14 to October 21, 2026.

In the registration process, there is also the procedure of authentication via DigiLocker, which makes it mandatory for candidates to make use of their authenticated DigiLocker ID while filling out the application form. Applicants are required to give personal as well as academic information along with the documents needed as per the examination authorities.
The GATE 2027 exam will also include Robotics and Automation as one of its new test papers, reflecting the evolution of its subject list due to advancements in engineering and technology sectors. The GATE exam is still an essential avenue through which aspirants can pursue postgraduate programs and join many public sector organizations.
GATE 2027 will take place on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027. The date for city allocation notice is January 4, 2027, whereas admit cards for GATE 2027 are yet to be declared by IIT Madras. The announcement of GATE 2027 results is due on March 19, 2027.

The candidates are strongly recommended to register themselves long before the deadline so that they may not face any problem. The official website for GATE 2027 provides detailed information about the eligibility criteria and other necessary documents.
Since the registration process is ongoing, the students/graduates of Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts & Humanities, who satisfy the specified eligibility criteria, may appear for the test. Robotics & Automation and the use of DigiLocker for verification are important features of GATE 2027.
