IGNOU Rolls Out MSc Programme in Data Science & Analytics

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced a new Master of Science (MSc) in Data Science and Analytics programme through the Open Distance Learning (ODL) format.

The programme has been launched by the School of Computer and Information Sciences (SOCIS) and will be available as a two-year degree programme. As stated officially, the initiative is intended to tackle the growing demand for data science professionals across various industries.

The MSc in Data Science and Analytics is designed to enhance the computational and statistical skills essential for analysing data and addressing problems. As per IGNOU, the programme is available to students with diverse academic backgrounds, including those seeking to upgrade skills or transition into data-focused careers.

The programme emphasises applying data science tools and techniques to solve real-world challenges in sectors such as business, healthcare, social sciences, and engineering.

To be admitted to the programme, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree of at least three years from a recognised university. The course fee is set at Rs 13,000 per semester, excluding registration and development fees, according to the official website.

The programme is offered in English, spans two years, and follows the ODL format, allowing students to study online. As per official information, students completing the first two semesters with 40 credits will be eligible for a Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science and Analytics upon exit.
