The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has introduced a Comprehensive Internship Policy throughout its main institutions, to establish a robust pipeline of young professionals in sports management, administration, science, and related areas.
The program will provide 452 internship opportunities annually, with chosen individuals receiving a monthly payment of Rs 20,000, supported by a total yearly budget of Rs 5.30 crore.
Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the initiative would significantly contribute to “nation-building through sports” by providing young talent access to the operations of sports institutions. He mentioned that students in colleges and universities would be the main beneficiaries of the program, which is in accordance with the National Sports Policy and Khelo Bharat Niti 2025.
The internship framework, officially named the ‘Comprehensive Internship Policy for the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) and its Autonomous Bodies,’ aims to offer organized, practical experience to students and young professionals in various sports-related fields.
As per the ministry, the initiative aims to enhance skills in sectors including sports governance, administration, sports science, anti-doping, event management, and athlete assistance services. Interns will participate in both policy-oriented tasks and practical implementation, providing them with an understanding of the operational framework of India's sports ecosystem.
