2,000 Tech Roles Open New Career Paths for Fresh Graduates

Singapore has opened nearly 2,000 technology roles and training opportunities for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals through an expanded IMDA programme. The initiative focuses on AI, cybersecurity, data and software skills.
Nearly 2,000 technology jobs and training are available through Singapore's new version of its Company-Led Training programme, for both fresh graduates and mid-career professionals wishing to upskill or switch to technology roles. The programme is spearheaded by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) under the revamped TechSkills Accelerator programme.
The opportunities range from artificial intelligence, cyber security, data, and software and include over 20 companies. Jobs range from software engineers, security analysts and data scientists, which are sectors that Singapore will continue to have a need for technology talent.

The programme involves companies such as Accenture, NCS and Microsoft. The successful candidates will gain hands-on experience and understanding of how to build applications using AI and how to deploy AI functionality into enterprise systems in various industries including finance, health care, logistics and technology.
The effort is designed for fresh graduates who are looking to get into their first tech jobs, as well as professionals who are interested in making a career switch to a different field. The programme aims to develop the skills required by the industry, by offering a combination of employment and structured training.
The capabilities of AI are evolving and transforming the skills needed for technology roles, said Singapore's Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo. She noted that human judgement, context, and decision making are growing in importance, while coding and analysis are becoming more automated and content generation increasingly is.
The government is also promoting the integration of AI capabilities with professionals' expertise in their respective areas. AI integration into business is creating opportunities for individuals to become more versatile as they gain a deeper understanding of both AI and domain knowledge, Teo said.
Skills push is not limited to technology workers. The two new programmes AIxLegal from IMDA and the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) are expected to equip around 11,000 legal professionals with AI training. The courses will be based on applications like legal research, case analysis etc.

At the same time, Singapore is creating national AI programs in advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance and healthcare, which make up more than 40% of GDP. AI is seen as an important pillar for Singapore's competitiveness and the attraction of high value activities by the government.
Furthermore, the programme mirrors wider trends of Singapore's workforce transition with a focus on ongoing upskilling and the increasing role of Artificial Intelligence in the workplace. The 2,000 opportunities offer a new pathway to this technology-focused field for fresh graduates as well as for experienced professionals looking to fill roles in an AI economy.
