Cognizant has launched a Talent Accelerator programme for 489 newly hired B-school graduates, bringing together candidates from 58 business schools across 37 cities in India. The programme is designed to prepare new employees for business roles in an increasingly AI-driven technology environment.
The two-week immersive onboarding programme is being conducted simultaneously at Cognizant facilities in Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune. It combines functional training with sales and marketing sessions, while also giving participants opportunities to interact directly with the company's business and leadership teams.

The participating institutions include IIM Bangalore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, ISB Hyderabad, SPJIMR Mumbai, FMS University of Delhi and XLRI - Xavier School of Management, among others.
The programme reflects Cognizant's focus on developing interdisciplinary talent as businesses increasingly integrate artificial intelligence into operations. More than 37% of the new hires come from non-STEM backgrounds, including liberal arts, vocational disciplines and design-related fields.
The company said the cohort includes candidates with backgrounds in areas such as sociology, psychology, office management, secretarial practice and industrial design. This approach is intended to bring a broader range of skills and perspectives into technology and business operations.
Women account for more than 42% of the cohort, highlighting the company's focus on building a more diverse workforce. Cognizant said bringing together talent from different academic disciplines can help employees connect AI capabilities with practical business requirements.
Rajesh Varrier, President, Global Operations and Chairman & Managing Director, Cognizant India, said cognitive diversity is important to creating value for clients and employees. He added that the programme is intended to foster collaboration and help new associates bridge AI capabilities with real-world business outcomes.

The initiative also aligns with Cognizant's plans to expand its Frontier-certified workforce to 5,000 Frontier Certified Engineers and 10,000 Frontier Business Operators. The company views these roles as part of the workforce required to translate AI investments into measurable enterprise results.
The Talent Accelerator programme therefore highlights a broader shift in technology hiring, with companies increasingly seeking candidates who combine business understanding, diverse academic backgrounds and the ability to work alongside emerging AI technologies.
