IIT Bombay Opens Summer AI, Robotics Courses for Kids

Synopsis: IIT Bombay invites applications for its 2026 Summer School Outreach Programmes for Classes 8 to 12, offering hands-on training in AI, robotics, UX design, entrepreneurship, and sustainability through immersive campus-based workshops.
The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) has opened applications for its Summer School Outreach Programmes 2026, aimed at students from Classes 8 to 12. The initiative is designed to introduce young learners to emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, UX design, sustainability, entrepreneurship, and design thinking through practical and immersive learning experiences.
Conducted under IIT Bombay’s Educational Outreach initiative, the programmes seek to nurture creativity, curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving abilities among school students at an early stage. Participants will receive mentorship from IIT Bombay faculty members and experts while gaining exposure to campus-based learning and advanced innovation facilities.
The institute has launched multiple workshops scheduled between June and July 2026. Among the key offerings is the Makerspace Summer School, a nine-day programme focused on robotics, coding, electronics, and CAD-based learning. Another major programme, NextGen@IITB – Interdisciplinary Summer School, will provide students with exposure to artificial intelligence, bioengineering, robotics, and design through interactive projects and lab sessions.

IIT Bombay has also introduced the Infinity Juniors Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, which aims to help students strengthen their entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, and innovation skills. In addition, the Design Thinking for Young Minds programme will focus on introducing participants to user-centric problem solving and UX-oriented thinking. A dedicated NextGen@IITB BMC Schools Edition has also been planned to improve accessibility and innovation learning opportunities for students from BMC schools.
According to the institute, the programmes align with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) by encouraging interdisciplinary education and experiential learning. IIT Bombay stated that the workshops are intended to expose students to future-ready disciplines while also supporting teachers and educational institutions through collaborative engagement.
Applications for the programmes are currently available through the official IIT Bombay Educational Outreach portal. The institute expects significant participation due to the growing interest among students in AI, robotics, and innovation-driven education.
