IIT Delhi Launches PG Diploma in Electric Vehicle Technology

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi introduced a one-year distance Post Graduate Diploma in Electric Vehicle (EV) Technology within its Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART). The diploma is aimed at engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals who are working within the sector.
The launch of this diploma reflects India's goal of achieving 30% EV adoption by 2030. Students will be equipped with applied knowledge and practical skills by covering core and technical topics such as EV design, manufacturing and product development, charging systems, policies and frameworks on sustainability, etc., to attain an understanding of a green the potential impacts on mobility.
The diploma combines live online lectures with face-to-face immersion modules, allowing students to engage in lab exposure, faculty interaction, and industry-relevant learning. Students will study topics including battery management systems, power electronics, powertrain design, charging infrastructure, safety systems, and AI-driven fault detection.

Students will participate in case studies, simulations, capstone project, and semester-long research projects under IIT Delhi faculty supervision. Overall, the course is rigorous and emphasizes practical application. Facilitated in collaboration with Jaro Education for national access, the program features live learning sessions with IIT Delhi faculty and EV industry practitioners, maintaining an academic level while being practical and applied. The industry-related projects prepare participants for opportunities and challenges in the fast-accelerating EV industry.
Eligibility includes: Bachelor's degree in electrical sciences or equivalent (with relevant experience), and a first class diploma in electrical sciences or equivalent with a minimum of three years of professional experience. Admission is purely based on academic achievement and professional experience. On successful Graduate completion, participants will receive an IIT Delhi Post Graduate Diploma and graduate alumni status; making them eligible for roles in: design, manufacturing, R&D, charging infrastructure, fleet electrification, policy planning, etc.
