IIT Guwahati Announces GATE 2026 Schedule for MTech

IIT Guwahati, the institute responsible for organizing the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, has unveiled the detailed examination schedule for admissions to the MTech, MS, and PhD programs across the premier institutions. The computer, based test (CBT) will be held over four daysFebruary 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026with two shifts: forenoon (9:30 am to 12:30 pm) and afternoon (2:30 pm to 5:30 pm).

The morning session on February 7 sees the examination of papers such as Agriculture, Environmental Science, Geology, Instrumentation, Mathematics, Mining, Textile, Engineering Sciences, and Life Sciences, whereas the afternoon session features the areas of Aerospace, Biotechnology, Chemical, Chemistry, Geomatics, Physics, and Humanities. On February 8, Computer Science will be held in the morning, and the afternoon will see the examination of CS, 2, Ecology, Naval Architecture, and Petroleum.

The schedule on February 14 will have Civil (CE, 1), Electrical, and Production in the morning session while Biomedical, CE, 2, Mechanical, and Metallurgical will be in the afternoon. The last day, February 15, will have Electronics in the morning and Architecture (AR) along with Data Science & AI (DA) in the afternoon. Candidates may get acquainted with the interface through mock tests available on the official portal (gate2026.iitg.ac.in), but the features of the actual exam may be different. The question paper will have MCQs, MSQs, and NATs.

The release of admit cards, which was initially expected soon, has been delayed; the new release date will be announced on the website. The well, organized timetable is a great aid in the preparation of the 30 papers and will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth conduct of the exam for the students of engineering and science who want to pursue their studies at the postgraduate level and are coming from all over the country.
