IIT JAM 2026 Registration Opens Sept 5, Apply by Oct 12

The registration process for the Joint Admission Test for Master’s (JAM) 2026 at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay will start on September 5, 2025.

JAM 2026 serves as the entrance for applicants aspiring to enroll in MSc and integrated MSc–PhD programs at 22 IITs and IISc, offering around 3000 seats for the 2026–27 academic year.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or be in their last year of undergraduate education, with graduation achieved before enrollment and valid documentation provided to the admitting institution. There is no maximum age restriction.

The application period starts on September 5, 2025, and concludes on October 12, 2025. The admit cards will be issued on January 5, 2026, and the examination will take place on February 15, 2026, in two sessions. Results will be announced on March 20, 2026.

The application cost for Female / SC / ST / PwD applicants is Rs1000 for a single test paper and Rs1350 for two, whereas other candidates are required to pay Rs 2000 and Rs 2700 respectively. A fee of Rs 300 will be charged for changes in exam city, paper, category, or gender, permitted until November 10, 2025, through the portal. Payments can be processed via net banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI.

The assessment will take place online using the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Candidates have the option to select from various papers according to their academic background and preferences.

The test papers offered consist of Geology (GG), Mathematics (MA), Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Economics (EN), Mathematical Statistics (MS), and Physics (PH). Every paper aims to evaluate knowledge and analytical skills specific to the subject, pertinent to postgraduate education.
