IIT Kharagpur Offers Online AI Courses for PG and Certificate

IIT Kharagpur offers seven online certificate programmes in AI, machine learning, data science, software engineering and FinTech. Courses run for six to eight months, or 31 weeks, with fees ranging from ₹1.77 lakh to ₹2 lakh.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur offers seven online postgraduate and professional certificate programmes in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, software engineering, data science and financial technology. Designed for graduates and working professionals, the programmes aim to develop practical skills aligned with evolving industry requirements.

The courses are delivered through online instruction and combine academic concepts with industry-oriented applications. Depending on the programme, participants receive live faculty sessions, guided projects, capstone assignments and opportunities to apply their learning to real-world business and technology challenges.

The Executive Post Graduate Certificate in Generative AI and Agentic AI, offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, covers foundation models, system design and AI deployment. The eight-month programme requires a relevant degree with at least 50% marks. Candidates from other disciplines need at least two years of technology-sector experience. The fee is ₹1.99 lakh.

The Applied AI and Machine Learning programme, also lasting eight months, covers machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, generative AI and deployment practices. It includes six core modules and a capstone project. The eligibility requirements and total fee are the same as those of the Generative AI programme.

The seven-month Technology and AI Leadership programme, offered by the Partha Ghosh School of Leadership, focuses on AI evaluation, technology investments, risk management and digital transformation. Applicants need a bachelor's or master's degree and three years of professional experience. Diploma holders require five years of experience. The fee is ₹2 lakh.

The eight-month AI-Native Software Engineering programme targets software developers with at least two years of professional experience and proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript. It covers full-stack development, retrieval systems, agentic workflows and production deployment. The fee is ₹1.77 lakh.

The Applied Data Science and Agentic AI programme covers predictive and business analytics, causal AI, generative AI, retrieval-augmented generation and agentic workflows. It requires graduation with at least 50% marks and costs ₹1.77 lakh.

The six-month Building AI Products, Systems and Services programme focuses on AI product design, evaluation, compliance and commercial strategy. Graduates with at least 50% marks can apply. The fee is ₹1.99 lakh.

The Professional Certificate Programme in FinTech and AI, offered by the Vinod Gupta School of Management, runs for 31 weeks. It covers digital public infrastructure, fintech business models and AI governance. Applicants need a recognised graduate degree, and the fee is ₹1.90 lakh.

Across the seven programmes, fees range from ₹1.77 lakh to ₹2 lakh. Each programme requires a ₹10,000 seat-booking payment, while eligible participants can opt for monthly instalment plans.
