IP University to Launch BTech in Metrology, Admits via JEE Main

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (IP University) will launch a new engineering program, BTech in Metrology, in the upcoming academic session. Admission to the BTech program will take place via the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main.
While other programs at the university admit students based on their IPU Common Entrance Test (IPUCET) scores, admission to this program will solely rely on JEE Main scores.
IP University intends to finalize an agreement with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) to introduce the BTech programme in Metrology starting the upcoming academic session. The institute emphasized that metrology is fundamental to basic engineering, and this program is currently offered at only two to three IITs; IP University will be the first in India to launch this program.
Stating that metrology is fundamental to basic engineering and currently offered at just two to three IITs, GGSIPU said: “IP University will be the first university in the country to introduce this programme.”
“The programme will be a blend of the Indian Knowledge System to the modern marvels of engineering,” it added.

Prof Mahesh Verma, the university's vice-chancellor, emphasized the need for increased student enrolments in the BTech programme during its launch, highlighting their importance for driving innovation and industrial development.
Beginning with the 2025 session, IPU has established a quota for orphan children, in addition to the Single Girl Child quota that was introduced in 2024. Under the orphan children category, chosen students will qualify for a complete fee waiver through the IPU’s EWS program.
IPU has introduced a chatbot service for admissions. The chatbot service for admissions aims to deliver immediate responses to questions concerning enrollment in different programs for the upcoming session. The new service's link can be found on the University’s official website — ipu.ac.in.
