The South-Eastern part of the Asian continent is divided into Mainland South-East Asia and Maritime South-East Asia where countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar forms the Mainland part and Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India, Indonesia, East Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, East Timor, Brunei, Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands covers the Maritime South-East Asian part. These regions on Asian sub-continent are rich in arts, music and writing where originally Indians taught their native inhabitants about writing as a form of Brahmic writing on the split palm leaf or commonly called as `Lontar' and is known as the `Balinese script' which could be found in these regions of South-East Asian part of the world.
