Set up with the vision to establish itself as a leading Business School offering knowledge, skill, and competency to its students to become efficient and effective socially responsible corporate citizens who will create an environment of support and inspiration in the business world where people can realize and achieve their full potential, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science, Kolkata was started in the year 2000 under the aegis of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan as a promising B-School under Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT). BIMS Kolkata is a constituent unit of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan which was founded by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi in the year 1938.

The founding members of the Bhavan included Dr. Rajendra Prasad, C Rajagopalachari, Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, several distinguished scholars, statesmen and leaders of the modern Indian Renaissance. From small beginnings, the Bhavan has grown into an internationally reputed intellectual, cultural, and educational movement. It has 119 Kendras, of which six are overseas and there are 367 constituent institutions. Bhavan tries to promote education, literature, culture, science, human values, and inter-faith harmony for all-around human development.

Business Analytics & Operations specialization, HR Analytics Digital Marketing, MOOCs, Non-Credit Courses, and classes related to Entrepreneurship Development are some of the innovative courses offered by BIMS, to help students to make their professional careers better.

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Institute of Management Science has the adequate infrastructure required for modernday management education. Multimedia AC classrooms with Wi-Fi. The language lab and Communication lab along with the Computer Lab with advanced systems and licensed software. The auditorium, automated library, and sports ground are some of the additional infrastructures the B-school has. To add to it, the faculty members at BIMS Kolkata are well-qualified and experienced.

The average experience of faculty members is about 15-20 years with UGC-NET/GATE and all of them have either been awarded Ph.D. or they are on the verge of completing their Ph.D. degree.

The faculty members are also good at their research capabilities. Most of the faculty members have industry experience and they are members of professional associations.BIMS offers Merit Scholarships to deserving students and also assists in getting Govt. Scholarship as per their eligibility criteria.

Future Plans
With more than 22 years of experience in the field, BIMS is building a group of MBA professionals who can bring changes to the current scenario. The institute is aiming to provide an excellent platform for students looking to become post-graduates in business administration and get employed in leading brands across the country. Dr. Siba Prasad Mohapatra, Principal
Dr. Siba Prasad Mohapatra has Post Graduate Degrees in Physics as well as Management with Finance Specialisation and he has completed a Ph.D. in Management from Berhampur University. He has more than 22 years of teaching experience with publications in peer-reviewed journals and chapters in edited books. Dr. Mohapatra has presented research papers at various International conferences organized by reputed organizations such as IIM-Calcutta, IIM Ahmedabad, IIT-Kharagpur, and more. He was also invited as a keynote speaker and technical session expert to many national and international conferences. He also acted as an external examiner for the evaluation of the Doctoral thesis in Management and as an External Expert in the promotion process of Grade-III officers of the Indian Bank. He has also acted as a trainer for corporate executives in the area of Finance. Dr. Mohapatra has imparted training to BDSPs at the district level under the West Bengal State Rural Livelihood Mission project. His teaching and research interest lie in the domain of finance and related areas, and be-sides teaching, he has served various institutions in academic leadership positions for more than 10 years.
