Over the past couple of decades, the demand for top-notch dental colleges has been increasing in India owing to the increase in interest shown by aspiring students. Acknowledging this situation, Bhojia Dental College & Hospital was established in 1999 to offer best in class education to its students and through that to realize their vision of providing ‘health for all’. It is a private unaided/self-financing institute that has been successfully running for over two decades with excellence in the academic field with the quality of education and clinical exposure on level pegging with the best possible standards.

Bhojia Dental College & Hospital is part of the Bhojia Charitable Trust for Science Research and Social Welfare which operates with a vision to work for the advancement of religious and charitable objects of public nature. The main aim of the trust was to establish institutions for providing educational and medical facilities in various disciplines as well as to alleviate poverty, especially in the northern belts of the country.

The institute boasts to be the first and only dental college to be accredited with NAAC in the state of Himachal Pradesh. This ensures quality in both education and patient treatment. The college is also duly approved and recognized by the Dental Council of India, New Delhi, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, New Delhi and affiliated to H.P.

University, Shimla for its various courses. The institute is empanelled with ESI and H.P. Government, which allows an abundant inflow of patients. This allows for students to actively visualize and learn about various

disorders affecting the head and neck region and treat such disorders in the future. The college offers BDS and MDS courses along with Dental Hygienist and Dental Mechanics courses for aspiring. Their curricula offers holistic learning for the wholesome development of the students.

With a total number of 90 full-time and dedicated faculty members, the students are evaluated and monitored on the basis of regular tests and discussion that are performed in the classroom. The students are given practical training and they also get a chance to treat patients owing to the good patient flow of the institute. This enables them to treat a variety of patients suffering from different disorders and ultimately become masters of the subject. “Our faculty is one of the best in their field and they give lectures and handson practical training in the field of dentistry of different specialties. Moreover, they are the pillars of postgraduates in conducting research and innovative practice.

The college block consists of lecture theatres equipped with audio-visual learning aids. Bhojia Dental College and Hospital provides every type of dental treatment like major surgeries, dentures, ceramic crowns, gum treatment, restorative treatment, OPG, Orthodontics treatments, and so on. Also, the hospital section has a full-fledged community service department with a fully equipped Mobile Dental Van. Emphasizing Research-Oriented Education

has been a constant advocate when it comes to the importance of practical education and adding more about the uniqueness of their courses, Mr. Vikram says, “As part of our postgraduate curriculum, the students have to undertake one major research i.e. thesis and also, if they wish, they can carry out short research projects as well. The college provides the basic infrastructure for carrying out these research activities.

We have established a research laboratory in 2018 for such activities and the lab is upgraded with last equipment and materials every year. Also, as part of the BDS curriculum the students have to undergo a mandatory rotary internship in the hospital. We don’t provide any collaboration with other hospitals as our own institute has provision for internship, but, if a student wants to undergo his/her internship from some other hospital, it can be done with prior approval of the Dental Council of India and the concerned university.

The institute hosts its annual fest on a regular basis, in which students showcase their talent in extracurricular activities. This ensures the overall development of the student. The institute also hosted the First Combined Conference-cum-Fest of all the dental colleges in the State of Himachal Pradesh in March 2018. Bhojia Dental College & Hospital also regularly organizes various CDE programs in which stalwarts of dentistry are invited to speak on a topic of interest for the students and faculty members and various handson courses are also conducted for practical demonstration of advanced procedures. Striving for consistent improvement, Bhojia Dental College & Hospital is aiming to go through the NABH accreditation process to add to their pursuit of being the most prominent dental college in the country.
