It is a well-known fact that India has a high unemployment rate. The major reason for this is the lack of employability skill among the students entering the Job market. While, India is facing the problem of lack of employability skills, there are a good number of institutes that are striving hard to make the students employable rather than increasing the number of engineering graduates by establishing strong partnership with Industry. Chennai institute of Technology (CIT), Chennai is one among those institutions.

CIT was established in the year 2010 with the objective of providing Quality technical education with adequate industrial exposure -caters to the needs of the youth with its innovative teaching methods. Since inception, CIT maintains strong relationship with many industry and organizations in
order to provide practical knowledge in contemporary industries to its students in addition to the academic requirements defined by the AICTE and Anna University. “This innovative industrial connect, equipped the students to confidently undertake various industrial consultancy projects. CIT has various centers of excellence in collaboration with industries Viz, i) Centre of excellence for BPM partnered with Virtusa and PEGA, ii) KUKA industrial robotics training centre, iii) Centre of excellence for Mobile Computing, Big data and Cloud Computing in collaboration with CSC, iv) Tekla - TRIMBLE buildings education, v) ACCURATE Centre of Excellence for Metrology, vi) Design and Digital manufacturing centre, vii) SANDVIK Centre of Excellence for cutting tools, viii) NSDC approved Skill development centre, ix) Centre of Excellence in Embedded system and IOT, x) Centre for Networking in collaboration with CISCO , xi) Centre for Green energy, xii) Centre for Numerical Control machine, xiii) Mitsubishi PLC
training centre, xiv) ATALON Engine research centre, xv) 3D Manufacturing and Reverse engineering centre and many more. CIT also offers a state-of-the-art. compact campus with an ideal and con- ducive environment for learning. Cur- rently, CIT offers Undergraduate pro- grams in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineer- ing, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electron- ics Engineering along with Post grad- uate programs in Applied Electronics, CAD & CAM and Computer Science and Engineering. CIT opened its av- enues to collaborate with various reputed international institutions and industries for faculty and students through exchange programs and joint research activities. The faculties and students are actively participating in various professional society activities of national and international repute and bringing laurel to the institution.
