Placed at the top position in the global education sector, in the recent years, India has been able to create imperative associations in the higher education ecosystem. In addition, the central government of the country wants to take a major step ahead and enhance the growth of the distance education. Supporting this scheme taken by the central government, Lovely Professional University (LPU) is delivering quality education through distance education programs. The university initiated the education programs around 10 years back under the aegis of Lovely Group of Punjab, with a pledge to transform the way education was being delivered in India. "Because of the holistic measurements that we took, we received Punjab Government's approval in 2005 to establish the university. And after its establishment, we became an internationally recognized university and a premier academic institution due to our unflinching work nature. At present, we have students rolling in from all the Indian states," states Ashok Mittal, Chancellor, LPU.

Catering to the educational aspirations of the society, LPU is working with an unfathomable spirit for nurturing the brilliant young minds. It has blended distance education programs at masters, bachelors, post graduate diploma, and diploma levels with technology-based learning. "We offer Computer Applications, Information Technology, Management, Commerce, Arts and Library & Information Science programmes. These courses are recognized by Distance Education Bureau (DEB) of University Grant Commission (UGC) and are designed to serve the societal needs for equitable access to quality education at highly affordable fees," explains Ashok. Moreover, the Personal Contact Programmes (PCP) for various Distance Education courses that are conducted at the university campus, Phagwara, Punjab, helps the students by giving opportunities for conceptual understanding of the courses.
