Having capable educational institutions to impart first-rate nursing education is crucial to create and maintain an effective and efficient health care system. While most other institutions started to focus on the business aspect of nursing education, Narayana College of Nursing (NCON) was incepted with a vision to become a universal leader for innovations, researches, education, attitude and practice to create positive changes in all health care outcomes.

Founded in 2002 by Narayana Educational Institutions, Nellore, NCON operates with a unique mission to become catalysts for optimizing health through nurseled health care by integrating education, application, research and technology to create innovative solutions that improve health for all. The institute is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council, Vijayawada, A.P. and affiliated by Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. NCON is also accredited by IAO, USA also, as the ‘Highest Standards Organizational Management, Academic performance continuous quality improvement’ Certificate of International Accreditation.

NCON was established with a goal to build a toplevel nursing institution of excellence that is capable of producing competent nursing professionals needed at the global level. “Our aim is to create world class nurses through the provision of open and free environment for organized and systematic nursing education and we offer excellent education with the simple yet effective philosophy of ‘Give the Best and Get the Best’. We offer Nursing courses at various levels like Diploma (GNM), Undergraduate (Bachelors), Postgraduate (Masters), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs.
Our course list also includes programs such as PB.B.Sc. (N), and B.Sc. (N) which allows us to offer a wide variety of opportunities for aspiring students. NCON has been ranked in the top 10 Nursing Colleges in South India-2019 by International Accrediting Authority and Best Nursing College in Andhra Pradesh by World Wide Achievers. Our faculty have a total of more than 700 publications in various indexed journals and every year we conduct conferences and workshop both at national international levels. Faculty at NCON strives to cultivate advanced nursing professionals who will be recognized for excellence, dynamic leadership and compassionate evidence-based nursing practice. Through this, the institute is aiming to prepare their graduates to function in leadership roles and to address the political, social, ethical, economic, and policy issues that affect the design and delivery of health care at all levels. NCON has MOUs with a number of foreign institutes including MAINE University, Orono, USA, St Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College, Ababa, Ethiopia, LINCOLN University College, Malaysia, and MEKELLE University, Ethiopia.

These international tie-ups help the students to get valuable international exposure and the opportunity to learn and train under some of the most reputed names in the global nursing domain. NCON also has connections with Narayana General Hospital and Narayana Super Specialty Hospital which is accredited with NAAC ‘A’ Grade. The nursing students will be rotated in all clinical areas of the hospitals and the student nurses are involved in all the direct patient care with the nursing process on par with global nursing.

At NCON, students are provided with comprehensive education, both theoretical and practical, designed to sharpen critical thinking skills, stimulate scientific
inquiry, develop effective practice and cultivate qualities of compassion and caring by fully integrating theoretical learning with clinical experiences within a caring environment.

They also help the students when it comes to the assimilation of new knowledge and new technologies to create and maintain required skills, and promote the understanding of the dynamic environment in which professional nursing is practiced. Indira is a Ph.D., and MBA holder and she has over 15 years of clinical and 20 years of teaching experience. She has won numerous awards including the Jewel of India award in 2004, the National Mahila Rattan Award in 2005, the Best Educationalist Award in 2009, the Golden Personality Award in 2011, the Bharath Mahila Award in 2012, the Indian Gold Star Award in 2013, the Life Time Achievement Award 2015, the The Indian Global Golden Award in 2016, the Mother Teresa Global Award in 2017, the Acharya Vidya Ratan Award (Friendship forum) in 2019 and Life time achievement Award for overall excellence (Friendship forum) in 2020. She also has 166 International & National publications and 21 presentations to her name.
