Nurses play a crucial role in sustaining a working healthcare system and the quality of the nurses can make or break its integrity. While there are plenty of nursing colleges in the country, there are some that stand apart from the rest owing to the quality of their teaching and the capability of their graduates. Sree Narayana Nursing College (SNNC) is one such elite nursing college that has been making impressive strides in the nursing education realm of the country.

SNNC operates with a vision to be a universal leader for innovations, researches, education, attitude and practice to create positive changes in all health care outcomes. Established in 2006 by Narayana Educational Society, Nellore, SNNC has been recently ranked amongst the top 10 of all nursing colleges by Higher Education Review-2019. SNNC is also recognized by the Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council, Vijayawada, A.P. and affiliated to Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.

Creating a Centre of Excellence
SNNC is offering nursing courses at various levels including Bachelors and Post basic B.Sc. (N) programs. “We are catalysts for optimizing health through nurseled health care by integrating education, application, research and technology to create innovative solutions that improve health for all. Our goal is to build a toplevel Nursing Institution of Excellence that is capable of producing competent nursing professionals needed at the global level. We create world-class Nurses through the provision of an open and free environment for organized and systematic nursing educationand our philosophy is ‘Give the Best and Get the Best’.

We have the facility of Medical college attached teaching hospital with 990 beds in the Narayana General Hospital and 440 beds in the Narayana Super
Specialty Hospital which is accredited with NAAC ‘A’. The student Nurses are involved in all areas for direct patients care with the nursing process on par with global Nursing. The Hospital is supported by an ultramodern laboratory, high-end blood bank and 24/7 running emergency medicine department (casualty). It also has well planned and equipped ICU'sfor different specialties like Cardiology, Neurology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Neonatology, and Endocrinology”, says Jayanthi V, Principal, SNNC.

SNNC fully acknowledges the importance of having a strong team of faculty members to nurture inspired learners and help the students reach their true potential. The faculty of SNNC have more than 700 publications in various indexed journals and every year conducting conferences/workshops. The faculty is accountable and responsible for creating an environment that promotes free inquiry and sensitivity to diversity in ideas and continuing education enrichment programs to encourage self-directed learning for life-long professional development.

At SNNC, expert faculties in nursing education are committed to designing and implementing curricula which comprises nursing science, humanities, basic and social sciences in which students develop critical thinking, decision-making skills, and clinical judgment, cultural sensitivity, and professional nursing values in an increasingly complex health care system.

With this, SNNC is aiming to prepare their graduates to function in leadership roles and to address the political, social, ethical, economic and policy issues that affect the design and delivery of health care at all levels.

With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare industry, Jayanthi V has been associated with teaching profession since past 18 years. She holds a M.Sc. degree in Nursing and is working as the Principal of Sree Narayana Nursing College (SNNC), Nellore, at present. Jayanthi has numerous memberships across the globe including Life membership (TNAI), Life membership/Society of midwives (India), Register nurse/midwife (Australia), Register nurse/midwife (Ireland) and more. She believes that – ‘A nurse is placed uniquely, in someone’s life better at any point in their journey’.
