Holding B.Pharm and M.Pharm degrees from College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal and Ph.D. from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and Prof. Dr. C. Vijaya Raghavan is currently serving as the Principal at RVSPACP. He has extensive 27 years of experience in teaching and research. The receiver of the Best Teacher Award from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Distinguished Alumni Award of MCOPS for the year 2009 from the Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal. Prof.Dr.C.Vijaya Raghavan has till date guided over sixty M.Pharm students and presently guiding 5 doctoral students and APP Best Researcher Award 2018 from Association of Pharmacy Professionals.

A pharmacist, being the last health professional to come into contact with the patient, plays a crucial role in ensuring the patient's knowledge of drug use. These significant personalities of the healthcare industry hence should be trained in a proper way in well-equipped laboratories before they enter into the world of pharmaceutical. Undertaking the responsibility of facilitating the would-be pharmacists with state-of-the-art laboratories and equipment along with an appropriate learning environment, RVS Padmavathi Ammal College of Pharmacy (RVSPACP) was instituted in the year 2016. Under the guidance of Dr. K.V. Kupusamy, Chairman and Dr.K.Senthil Ganesh, Trustee of RVS Trust, RVSPACP prepares a generation of pharmacists who are both academically and practically sound. "Students at our institute are given a solid foundation, which later helps them to evolve as successful pharmacists. We provide them the
confidence and skills to survive in the long run," proudly says Prof. Dr. R. Manavalan, Director, RVSPACP. Located in the "Manchester of South India", Coimbatore, RVSPACP is nestled in the spacious Kumaran Kottam Campus assembling the finest facilities such as machine room which has various equipments used in Pharmaceutical Industries at different stages of production, quality control and packing, QC Instruments like friability tests DT and dissolution test apparatus, a well-stocked library with books, journals and resource materials spanning over 500 titles and many more. "We have incorporated audio-visual rooms, seminar halls, hostel facilities and transport facilities. RVSPACP is one amongst the many successful ventures of RVS group of institutions. Our past students are the testament to our success and quality," pinpoints Dr.K.V.Kupusamy. The students at RVSPACP get the opportunity to access the institute's facilities and use those to the fullest, which undoubtedly assist in strengthening their practical grounding.

Dr. K.V.Kupusamy shares, "A dedicated and experienced team of faculty members work round the clock to ensure that the students are provided with right monitoring. Our faculty members hold the excellent grip of the respective subjects and try their best to deliver the most-updated education to the students". Approved by Government of Tamil Nadu and recognized by Pharmacy Council of India, RVSPACP a two years Diploma in Pharmacy course. In order to make sure that the faculty members and students receive substantial exposure and stay informed, the institute organizes National and International events quite frequently. The recent event that was held at RVSPACP was the 1st International Drug Delivery Congress in 2017, which was co-sponsored by ICMR, SERB and The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and 2nd International Drug Delivery Congress in 2018, in collaboration with Association of Pharmacy Professionals (APP).

A Rich Learning Experience

Pharmaceutical being a thriving industry, pharmacy education is as
well undergoing radical changes for matching up with the industry expectations. Throughout the academic year, RVSPACP continues to motivate the students and the faculty members to embrace such changes through performing research activities. On this account, the institute houses RVS Padmavathi Research Centre for Nano and Drug development, a nanotechnology center involved in the development of nano drug delivery systems, in its campus. "We stay open to welcome the latest changes that are happening in the pharmaceutical industry. First Continuing Pharmacy Education Program was organized in 2017, where Dr. N. Subramaniam, Associate Professor of Anna University and Dr. Amitava Bhattacharyya, Associate professor, PSG Institute of advanced studies, Coimbatore, delivered an interactive speech. To mark the Second Continuing Pharmacy Education Program in 2018, S. Muthu Kumar, Assistant Professor of KMCH College of Pharmacy delivered a talk on Drug Interactions in Clinical Pharmacy," opines Prof.Dr.C.Vijaya Raghavan.

The institute also puts lots of emphasis in developing an amicable rapport with the industry and other elite educational establishments in India and abroad. "We are planning to extend collaborations with foreign universities like King Saud University and foreign industries like Jinna Pharmaceuticals, Chicago, USA," states Dr.K.V.Kupusamy. During the 2017 pharmacists' day celebration, RVSPACP signed an MOU with Thulasi Pharmacies India (p) Ltd to render placement opportunities in retail outlets and also Shanthi Social Service (P) Ltd placed few students for their retail outlet. The students are trained and educated in such a comprehensive process at RVSPACP that they blossoms into wholesome pharmacists professional and take over the most important positions existing in the industry.

"Coupled with gaining academic knowledge, our students are also given adequate time to indulge in co-curricular activities. This aid in teaching them the art of balancing in life," says Prof.Dr.C.Vijaya Raghavan. For keeping up with its objective of providing the best possible pharmaceutical education, RVSPACP visualizes to emerge as a Center of Excellence in Pharmacy Education and Research to serve the humanity at large.
