The federal government of Canada is providing paid job options for students during the fall semester, with pay reaching as high as $31.69 (around Rs 2,400) per hour. These positions are mainly available to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, yet international students, including those from India, studying full-time at a recognized Canadian institution, are also eligible to apply.
“For students who meet the criteria, this is a valuable chance to gain experience in the public sector while pursuing their education,” Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI), the agency behind the hiring said on its portal.
The four-month internships take place from September to December 2025 and are situated in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal. OSFI has additionally stated that certain positions might be available remotely, as long as candidates have access to dependable internet.
The federal agency that oversees banks, insurance companies, and retirement plans is seeking students from various fields of study. No previous experience is required for applicants.
Positions are available in multiple fields, including audit, finance, statistics, economics, risk management, communications, translation, social media, office administration, project management, programming, databases, UI design, business administration, law, data analysis, human resources, political science, social sciences, graphic design, and content development.
The pay scale differs according to educational level, beginning at $17.75 per hour and increasing to $31.69 per hour for students in higher years or graduate programs.
Wages per hour differ based on educational qualifications. The base salary is set when the appointment occurs and can be increased depending on experience, area of study, or the year of study completed. The step system provides adaptability.

To qualify, candidates need to be registered full-time at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution and engage in a co-op or internship program necessary for graduation. They need to have the legal right to work in Canada and identify themselves as part of at least one equity group - women, individuals with disabilities, Indigenous individuals, or visible minorities.
Candidates must also satisfy the legal minimum age requirement for employment in their region, possess internet connectivity if seeking a remote role, and be eligible to acquire security clearance, which includes fingerprinting. Students who have resided or worked outside Canada in the last five years might also need to submit international criminal background checks.
