Govt Invites Applications for New Biotechnology Research Grant

The science and technology department has called for applications from faculty members, scientists, or researchers with an established history in the relevant fields to offer research and development grants. These individuals ought to be employed in government-recognized/state-operated universities, colleges, research facilities, or R&D institutions across various fields of biotechnology in the 2025-26 fiscal year.
The final day to submit an application for the grant is December 10. Submissions must be received by the director of the biotechnology, science, and technology department before the deadline. The maximum assistance amount for a research project will be Rs 30 lakh over duration of 3 years. The implementation of the research project will become effective from the date the first installment of funds is released. Official sources indicated that the science and technology department will offer financial support to up to 10 projects annually.
Submissions from researchers will be examined and selected by a review committee made up of field specialists. Selected proposals will be asked to present and justify their research proposals to the project evaluation and review committee, led by the director of the biotechnology cell in the science and technology department.
The research grant instructions specified that biotechnology research and development initiatives must pinpoint and choose a particular subject area, technology, or innovation to focus on. In certain instances, the R&D projects might focus on multiple interconnected fields, such as genetic engineering alongside gene editing, aquatic with marine, biofuel with bioenergy, environment with forest, agriculture with food, animal with plant, biomedical with biopharmaceutical, and molecular with genetic diagnostics.
