Himachal CBSE Government Schools Recruit 3,468 Teachers

Synopsis: Himachal Pradesh has initiated recruitment for 3,468 teaching posts in CBSE-affiliated government schools, strengthening its education reforms, expanding subject-specific faculty, and enhancing learning outcomes.

The Himachal Pradesh government has kicked off a big recruitment push for 3,468 teaching posts in CBSE linked government schools, as part of what they say are continued efforts to toughen school education and raise academic quality across the state. This announcement was made by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, during a review meeting of the Education Department, where officials looked over how things are coming along on major reforms, aimed at turning Himachal Pradesh into more of a top education destination.

According to the minister, the recruitment includes 2,668 regular teaching posts across 19 categories, for which requisitions have already been forwarded to the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Chayan Aayog in Hamirpur. Also, the government will appoint 800 temporary teachers in English and Mathematics, to better strengthen teaching delivery in these core subjects across CBSE-affiliated schools. This scheme is expected to deal with faculty shortfalls, while at the same time improving the classroom teaching quality.

The hiring process also takes in a bunch of other academic areas, like Sanskrit, Physical Education, Music, Drawing, Science, Commerce, Economics, Political Science, History, Hindi, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Computer Science, Fine Arts, and Public Administration. The state government mentioned that appointements for these subjects will be wrapped up in the coming months, so that schools end up with teachers who are suitably qualified across a wide range of specialties.

During the review, the Education Department also sort of looked at how far the state’s CBSE school initiative has gone. Officials said that 158 government schools got approval under the programme, while 146 schools have already taken CBSE affiliation. In order to help these institutions smoothly through the transition, the government has roped in 400 temporary English teachers and 400 Mathematics teachers. Out of them, 292 English teachers and 284 Mathematics teachers have already joined their respective schools, so things are moving along.

The meeting also reviewed a few digital education initiatives. The minister mentioned that 9,359 students have already received tablets under the Dr. Y.S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojana across the last three academic sessions and he directed officials to make sure the remaining eligible students get the benefits through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. He further said that all the government schools in the state are now integrated with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) already. Approval has also been secured to replace computers in 524 schools, while BSNL has finalised the networking tender for 777 government schools, which should be strengthening the digital infrastructure and technology-enabled learning.

The state government also talked about trying to set up an AI-focused university and at the same time reviewed steps meant to spot and back out of school children, as part of the wider education reform push. In the same conversation they also mentioned expanding the teacher recruitment drive, boosting digital infrastructure, and giving more strength to CBSE-affiliated government schools. With all of that Himachal Pradesh is aiming to raise learning outcomes, modernise public education, and create a school education system that feels much more solid and future-ready.
