IIT Roorkee Opens SPARK 2026 Internship; Apply by March 8

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee is accepting applications for its renowned SPARK 2026 Summer Internship Program, which aims to give undergraduate students the opportunity to gain research experience under the guidance of faculty members. The program, Students, Practice in Research for Augmenting Knowledge (SPARK), is scheduled from May to July 2026, and selected interns will have the chance to engage in state, of, the, art projects in various engineering, science, and technology areas.

SPARK 2026 is calling for application from third, and fourth, year B.Tech/B.E. students (or equivalent) who are pursuing engineering, sciences, architecture, planning, management, humanities, and social sciences degrees at recognized institutions in India. Moreover, final, year students are eligible to apply if their academic calendar allows them to take part during the internship period.

The program features a monthly stipend of 3, 000 for the full period along with free twin, sharing hostel accommodation and access to campus facilities. Students directly gain faculty mentorship at IIT Roorkee while they work on research projects enabling them not only theoretical but also practical experience.

 The program further grants participants the use of sophisticated laboratories, well, stocked libraries, and a vibrant interdisciplinary research community. A certificate of successful participation is given to the students on satisfactory completion of the program.

The internship duration is typically 6–8 weeks (flexible based on project requirements). Selected candidates will be matched with faculty supervisors based on their academic background, interests, and the project proposals submitted during application.

The entire process to apply is online only, and the official portal of IITR at their website under the SPARK Internship 2026 tab is the only place through which the application can be submitted. Applicants will have to submit their academic transcripts, a detailed CV, and a statement of purpose. A letter of recommendation is totally optional but is strongly advised. The program does not charge any application fee.

Selection for the internship will be done based on academic records, the quality of SOP submission, and the match of the applicant's research interest with ongoing research at IIT Roorkee. The announcement of results is estimated to happen by the middle of April 2026 with the completion of joining formalities by the beginning of May.
