The annual internship invites undergraduate and postgraduate students currently enrolled in recognised degree programmes to work closely with faculty members on academic and research projects.

The interested candidates need to submit their applications through the official SRIP portal before the deadline of March 5 2026 to become eligible for selection.

The period between May 7 and July 16, 2026, will mark the SRIP 2026 program which requires interns to work for at least eight weeks during that time. Applicants from all academic fields, which include engineering and science and humanities and other disciplines, can apply for the program.

The wide eligibility requirements show that IITGN wants to promote interdisciplinary research while granting research opportunities to students from various academic backgrounds.

Selected interns will receive a weekly stipend of ₹2,000 which results in total payments of up to ₹16,000 throughout the internship period because this stipend helps them with essential living costs.

The Bhalodia-Khetan Summer Research Excellence Award provides a cash prize of ₹50,000 to exceptional students who demonstrate their excellence beyond the regular stipend which they receive.

SRIP 2026 is designed to provide more than just research work. The program offers academic enrichment through its lecture series which features faculty members and visiting researchers as speakers and it’s Chalk the Talk sessions which permit informal discussions and its poster presentation segment that allows interns to display their work.

The internship program allows participants to take part in cultural activities and athletic competitions while they document their experiences through reflective Diaries which create an environment that promotes intellectual development and social interaction.

The Summer Research Internship Programme at IITGN provides students with an organized research environment which enables them to develop essential research abilities and work on advanced academic research while they build their academic credentials and experience life at one of India's top technological institutes.
