PG admission process begins Feb 27; classes from July

  • Odisha PG admission process begins February 27 through centralized SAMS online application portal.
  • Candidates must appear for Common PG Entrance Test for merit-based selection.
  • Postgraduate classes across state universities will officially commence from July 10.

Odisha's Higher Education Department has scheduled the start of postgraduate (PG) admission process for the 2026-27 academic years to begin on February 27, 2026, which marks an earlier start than previous admission cycles.

The decision exists to create an efficient academic system which will complete all admission processes on time before universities and colleges throughout the state start their educational programs.

The department implements this initiative to prevent academic schedule disruptions which will enhance administrative operations throughout Odisha's higher education system.

The Common PG Entrance Test (CPET-2026) serves as the exclusive admission requirement for all students who want to apply to different PG programs.

The eligible candidates from the Common Application Form (CAF) can submit their applications through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS) portal from February 27 until March 15 2026.

The centralized online application process aims to improve admission procedures through better transparency and standardized processes which reduce errors while making the system more accessible to all candidates.

The CPET exam for different subjects will take place between April 27 and May 10 2026 and the test results will determine all admissions.

The university will use only one selection method which establishes a merit-based system for postgraduate program entry through standardized tests.

The department has announced that all PG classes in Odisha will start on July 10 2026 at all universities and colleges. The institutions will achieve their academic goals through scheduled class start times because these times enable them to finish their study programs and carry out their testing procedures and release their examination results.

Officials say that advancing the admission timeline will benefit thousands of students and enhance the overall quality of higher education delivery in the state.
