Amazon India Offers 500 Tech Scholarships for Women Engineers

  • Amazon India offers 500 tech scholarships for underprivileged female engineering students.
  • Scholars receive Rs 2 lakh, a laptop, internships, and mentorship.
  • Applications open until November 30, 2025, prioritizing computer science fields.

On August 18, 2025, Amazon India announced 500 new technology scholarships for female engineering students from low-income backgrounds during the graduation ceremony of its first Amazon Future Engineer (AFE) scholarship group. The initiative seeks to promote gender equality in India’s tech sector by helping women from underprivileged families who are pursuing engineering degrees.

Working with the Foundation for Excellence (FFE), Amazon chooses scholars based on their academic performance, financial need, and leadership ability. Each recipient gets Rs 2 lakh over four years (Rs 50,000 per year) and a laptop. The program also provides technical bootcamps to fill skill gaps, paid internships at Amazon, and mentorship from professional engineers.

Applications for the 2025-29 cycle are open until November 30, 2025, at www.amazonfutureengineer.in. All engineering disciplines can apply, but preference goes to computer science, information technology, information science, and related fields. Prateek Agarwal, the AFE lead, emphasized the program’s impact. Many scholars, including first-generation graduates from tier-2 and tier-3 cities like Latur and Chaibasa, have become confident tech professionals.

Since it started in 2022, the AFE program has provided 1,700 scholarships. Over 80% of the first group found job offers from Fortune 500 companies, with several joining Amazon’s engineering teams in seven technical roles. The initiative shows Amazon’s focus on empowering women in technology through education and job opportunities.
