UP Assistant Teacher Recruitment 2026 Revises B.Ed Eligibility

UPESSC exempts eligible candidates enrolled in B.Ed., B.El.Ed. or equivalent programmes before July 29, 2011, from the minimum graduation marks requirement for Assistant Teacher recruitment 2026.
The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has revised the graduation eligibility criteria for its 2026 Assistant Teacher (Trained Graduate Grade) recruitment, providing relief to candidates admitted to specified teacher education programmes before July 29, 2011. Under the revised provision, eligible applicants will not be required to meet the prescribed minimum percentage requirement at the graduation level.
The commission issued the notification on November 4, 2026, following approval from the Uttar Pradesh government. The decision aligns the state's recruitment eligibility conditions with the guidelines of the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The exemption applies to candidates who enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or an equivalent teacher education programme before July 29, 2011. Such applicants will not be disqualified from the recruitment process for failing to secure the prescribed minimum percentage in their graduation examination.
The provision follows amendments introduced through the NCTE notification dated November 13, 2019, which modified its earlier notification of August 23, 2010. The revised eligibility arrangement was subsequently addressed through a notification issued by the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education on October 22, 2026.
The relaxation is applicable to eligible candidates applying for Assistant Teacher positions in government-recognised and aided secondary schools across Uttar Pradesh. Applicants must still satisfy the other educational, professional and recruitment conditions specified in the official notification.
UPESSC is conducting the recruitment under Advertisement No. 07/2026 for 17,735 Assistant Teacher (Trained Graduate Teacher) vacancies in non-government aided secondary schools. The vacancies include 16,193 positions in boys' schools and 1,542 in girls' schools across 17 subjects.
The online application process began on October 24, 2026, and the prescribed application deadline is November 23, 2026. Candidates covered by the revised graduation eligibility provision should review the updated conditions and submit their applications within the notified period.
The commission has not announced any extension to the application deadline alongside the revised eligibility notification. Applicants should therefore complete the process before the existing closing date.

The revised provision is particularly relevant to candidates who enrolled in teacher education programmes before July 29, 2011, and could not meet the earlier graduation marks requirement. The commission's notification specifies the scope of the exemption, while all other recruitment conditions continue to apply.
