Upon our discussion with the Chancellor, we not only gained an understanding of what fuels the well oiled machine but, we also realized that the man is visionary with a game changing plan.
'I have had the good fortune of interacting with educators around the world and in my journey I have realized that it is important to have a comprehensive understanding of what we have set out to do. That is the vision or the guiding philosophy any organization,' says Dr. Madhukar Angur, Chancellor, Alliance University. 'We have realized that the ecosystem is in a dire need of change. We intend to be the agents of change.'
Alliance University has carved a niche for itself among the best in the country, having been ranked consistently among the top universities and being the first Indian B-school to be accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE), USA, a premier international accreditation body for business management programs. The university has a range of articulation agreements with several universities and business schools around the world. Through these associations and MoUs, Alliance University offers study abroad programs and facilitates educational experiences in several countries such as USA, UK and Russia. As part of its drive to being a university par excellence, Alliance University is currently involved in pursuing multiple global accreditations and in enhancing the canvas of its international cooperation, even while strengthening its internal competencies in terms of people and resources.

Upholding the Promise
Indian education sector is dominated by established brands that have set the bar for the rest of the institutes to follow. However, within these old mansions lie the burden of custom and tradition. Customs and traditions have their merits with the long standing test of time but they also hold the risk of turning thriving corporations into dinosaurs – driving them to the brink of extinction. Alliance University does not have any such burden and as a result is a ballistic blitzkrieg of a page turning educational establishment. This year alone more than 150 top global and Indian super brands recruited students from the university taking the total number of recruiters to more than 300. Established in 2010, Alliance University is relatively a new customer in the block. One begs to question, how does a new comer come up with such an astounding track record?
'Our University has the best of both worlds. As a private university we control all aspects. We have internal curriculum review committees, we have been very careful of recruiting the faculty and retaining the faculty, our research activities are ever progressive and we train our students to be futuristic,' says Dr. Angur with a smile.
The University takes pride in inculcating one of the most updated and finest curricula for its programmes in the country and these curricula are continuously enhanced to meet changing situations, requirements and needs of the industry. The curricula are globally benchmarked, innovative, flexible, and highly integrated and help students to develop and sharpen their skills while building up their knowledge about the fundamentals. The University is in constant touch with the industry for feedback to be used in development, improvement and restructuring of its curricula. The curriculum has been designed in a fashion so that that it creates transformational learning experience for students and prepares them to meet challenges of the global community in the 21st century. "Having realized the need to reinvent education by offering academic programs that were impactful to students and would put them on a solid footing in the corporate world, Alliance University started innovative courses in order to suit today's requirements. Our curriculum has been tuned to fit the global standards with its fundamentals in the Indian roots for all disciplines," he adds.
The faculties at Alliance are the finest of the bunch and are the real drivers of excellence in the university. The institute believes in the education philosophy where students are provided with a learning platform to imbibe the right values, develop a positive attitude, gain knowledge, and attain a broader mindset without the shackles of rigidity in the system. "The students are guided towards the paths that they have chosen for themselves. The key word here is Guide," says Dr. Angur. All the departments and schools have adequate number of experiment labs, research labs, project labs, workshops, studios, and other support systems which are integral for strong practical exposure.
The university also has a dedicated department to further the culture of entrepreneurship amongst students and a separate Research & Development. Alliance is committed to technology deployment in its campus, and it is evident from the fact that nearly 90 percent of the tasks undertaken in the university incorporate one or the other tool of high end technology of present times.
The University strongly believes that an individual can build knowledge, gain skills and enhance values from a direct experience. This is only possible when an individual participates in an activity, takes a serious look at the activity, as a result gains valuable insights, understands the reason behind every course of the action and finally incorporates the results through a change in understanding or actions. Alliance University is turning out to be one heck of a blockbuster of our time and it is doing this with finesse. The University recently bagged 'Best Private University of the Year' by the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) in the 8th National Education Excellence Awards 2015, New Delhi. Upon speaking on the approaching future Dr. Angur emphasized that the University intends to not only build a strong ecosystem within its architecture but also impact the surrounding areas through its outreach programs.

Dr. Angur holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Arlington, a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Surathkal, India. He is a visionary, entrepreneur and distinguished researcher by profession and, a philanthropist and storyteller at heart. Dr. Angur has been awarded with 'Asia's most eminent Chancellor 2015' award by All India Council of Human Rights, Liberties and Social Justice, New Delhi.
