Healthcare in India is gradually gaining a stature where the country is going to be one of the most preferred destinations for medical tourism. Founded in 2001, SMIMS, an institute of SMU (Sikkim Manipal University), came into existence in 1995 and is the first Indian university to be formed through a government-private partnership. SMIMS became the first private medical institute in the State of Sikkim. Also featuring in the issue is DKMM Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. Established in 1989, it is one of the biggest and most popular Homoeopathic Medical colleges and hospitals in India. There are 12 different departments at DKMM Homeopathic Medical College & Hospital including the Department of Materia Medica, Department of Organon, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Pathology, and Department of Surgery to name a few.
