Christ University is a nurturing ground for an individual's holistic development. It is a private university in Bangalore which was founded in 1969 as a college and on 22nd July 2008 it was declared as an institution deemed to be university. The Department of Media Studies at Christ University is one of the most vibrant and academically rigorous centers of media higher education in India with the passion of honing students' skills, knowledge and attitude for effective leadership in varied local, national and global media platforms. Since its inception in 1991, the department has always strives to optimize the theoretical rigor and practical exposure of its students, through a constantly evolving curriculum, a plethora of activities and workshops, and exposure to key experts from the various fields of communication.

Internships, workshops, guest lecturers and so on are built into the curriculum to promote diverse platforms of learning. In 2004, the postgraduate program of the Department of Media Studies - MA in Media and Communication Studies - MAMCS was introduced, enabling the students to get a deep disciplinary knowledge, advanced media skills, and career-ready orientation. The program empowers students with plentiful opportunities and support to tackle real-life communication issues, deploy communication skills, gain socio-cultural sensitivity and build a strong base in the domain.
