In the last two decades, the number of schools in India that provide a variety of educational qualifications to students in media has risen dramatically. With the rise in the establishment of news agencies, newspapers, online newspapers, advertising firms, animation studios and so forth; students opting for a career in media have a plethora of options to select from. While there are a lot of institutions that provide the students to live their dreams of pursuing a career in India, they must write an entrance exam to qualify for the same. In this regard, we have come up with a list of various competitive exams in the country that students can take up in order to join these universities and pursue their course in media.

Indian Institute of Mass Communication Entrance Exam

The Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) is one of the premier institutions in India which provides a variety of post graduates courses in Print Journalism, Electronic Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations. It has recently it has started programs in Hindi and Oriya language. The institute conducts an entrance test for these courses in locations present all over India such as New Delhi, Bhubaneswar (Orissa), Patna (Bihar), Lucknow (U.P.), Kolkata (W.B.), Guwahati (Assam), Bangalore (Karnataka), Mumbai, Nagpur (Maharashtra), Bhopal (MP), Chennai (TN), Aizawl (Mizoram), Jammu, Srinagar (J&K) and Kochi (Kerala).

Asian College of Journalism Entrance Exam

The Asian College of Journalism (ACJ) located in Chennai has been an institute which has dedicated itself in producing journalists of great quality. The institute offers only post graduate courses which are designed to grant students with world-class journalism education adapted to the specific needs of India. To sign up for a course at ACJ students must write an entrance exam which is available at test centers in Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Patna, Mumbai and New Delhi. Candidates will be tested on their English language skills and their awareness of current affairs and general knowledge. It will also test the candidates' writing ability and assess their analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Symbiosis institute of Mass Communication Entrance Exam

The Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC) was established in 2008 and has been successful in the field of Media and Communication. The institute has become a top destination for students hoping to have a career in media. SIMC offers its students a three year Bachelor of Media Studies Course (BMS). Students are able to gain a comprehensive understanding through traditional academic learning coupled with research from cyber and experiential learning. To gain an entry to this prestigious institution, media study aspirants must appear for the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) which is a common written test held at several cities across India. After qualifying the test, students will be shortlisted and will be required to take a writing ability test. Students are then asked to participate in a studio test which will concluded by a personal interview.
