K. S. Rangasamy College of Technology was established in the year 1994 with an aim of providing quality education to the rural masses. The Institution sprouted under the aegis of K.S.R. Educational and Charitable Trust founded by Lion Dr. K.S. Rangasamy MJF. KSR acquired the autonomous status in 2007 by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
Programs
KSR College of Technology provides a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programs under the academic umbrella of engineering. The Institution was accredited by NAAC with 'A' Grade in 2012. About 9 undergraduate and 3 postgraduate programs were accredited by NBA. The Institution offers 10 undergraduate programs such as, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering and numerous other programs.
Industry Institute Interaction
KSR College of Technology has a wide range of MoUs signed with a variety of organizations which are academic and corporate in nature. The interaction they facilitate with these organizations helps the students to gain immense practical knowledge and at the same time fosters to update their skills. University of Missouri, Columbia, USA has signed an MoU with the Institution for exchanging scientists for joint teaching, training and research programs, and product development. The Institution has a platinum partnership with Keane International (India) Pvt.Ltd., Bangalore to conduct student workshops for technical symposiums and to provide Technical Support to theInstitution along with placement aid.
Academic Resources
KSR College of Technology has been built on a serene green campus area of 28.05acres. Over the last six years, the Institution has added five blocks such as the Academic Block, Mechatronics Block, Electronics and Instrumentation Block, Library Block and Management Block. In order to ensure that the entire student community gain the right practical knowledge, all the laboratories are provided with state-of-the-art equipments. It also has the basic facilities such as seminar halls, bookstore, transport, hostel, cafeterias, gymnasium, indoor stadium, swimming pool and guest house.
The College takes pride in having a Central Library housed in a three-storey block. The Library has more than 86,640 books, 231 journals including national and international journals, and 68 magazines. In addition to books and journals, the Institution has subscribed to 14 e-journal packages. All the Departments in KSR College of Technology have their own library to cater to the instant reference needs of both students and faculty members. NPTEL video and web courses are also available.
Faculty
The knowledge rich faculty members at KSR College of Technology consist of 434 teaching faculty including 79 doctorates. The college has ensured that all faculty members it hires are well-qualified, experienced and are deep-rooted in their core subjects. All the departments at KSR College of Technology are recognized by Anna University, Chennai as research centres for pursuing PhD. There are 27 recognized PhD supervisors and currently 187 faculty members are pursuing research leading to PhDs. During the last five years, the faculty members have published 544 papers in international journals, 61 papers in national journals and around 200 papers in national & international conferences. Around 90 faculty members completed PhD during the last seven years.The staff-student ratio is 1:15.
Funding received for overall Development
During the last five years, the grant-in-aid received close to Rs. 8 Lakhs from various funding agencies such as AICTE, DRDO, DST, ICMR, CSIR, DBT towards research and development, modernization of laboratories. During the last five years, Rs. 1.36 Lakhs have been received as grant-in-aid from various agencies for conducting 90 programmes such as conferences, seminars, workshops and FDPs.
Placement Details
The Training and Placement Cells arranges for On/Off campus interviews, In-plant Training, Industrial Visits for both students and faculty, Project Work, and Career guidance programs. The Cells also arrange for programs to improve the personality and communication skills of students. Apart from arranging various programs, the cells periodically conduct Aptitude Tests, Group Discussions, Mock Technical and HR Interviews to students for prospective placements. The College has been accredited by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Wipro for placement.
Sports
Students at K. S. R College of Technology are always encouraged to take part in a variety of extra curricularactivities especially sports. Those students who are keen and interested are provided with all the facilities. Athletes are encouraged to practice and to take part in all the athletic events with the 8 lane and 400m track on a 11 acre playground. As the students who join KSR College of Technology are extreme sports enthusiasts, the college has built football fields, hockey fields, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts and a cricket ground to satisfy their urge to play these sports.
Lion.Dr. K.S. Rangasamy MJF, Founder-Chairman
Lion. Dr. K.S. Rangasamy MJF hailed from an agricultural background and has assisted his parents in maintaining the cattle and farms. After completing his IV standard, he started his career as a milk vendor. Following this, he started a textile unit at Tiruchengode and within a span of 10 years, he started a textile dyeing and processing unit. He establishedK. S. Rangasamy College of Technology, 1994 under K.S.R. EUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE TRUST as a means to render service to the society.
